MONIKA REIMANN
Combining Photography and Finance to create timeless Art
The versatile Monika Reimann is an industry herself.
A Banker turned Photo-Artist, she offers a unique combination of art and experience through renowned galleries, art associations, and trade fair organizers to make her works accessible to a wider audience. Founder of the company - ‘emotional return GmbH’, her clientele spans from Europe and America to Asia and beyond.
“My portfolio includes the presentation and sale of works that are more than a picture. Under the motto - ‘Travel, Communication, Investment’, I offer a unique combination of art and experience. My photo artworks not only invite you to look at them, but also inspire you to travel through time and space, promote exchange, and offer valuable investment opportunities.”
Based in Germany, Monika’s showroom is located in a historic moated castle that has been in the family for over 700 years. Together with the owner, she presents new developments once a year at an exclusive event. Individual events and guided tours are also possible by arrangement. Her international guests appreciate the easy accessibility, as the airport is only 15 minutes away.
For Monika, probably the biggest challenge was to leave familiar surroundings and break new ground. She was a Certified Banking Specialist and a Certified Foundation Consultant before she chose to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts - Photography/Media, from the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Essen (2015-2019).
“As a Private Banking Advisor, it was important to me to offer my clients more than just a good return. People who wanted to make a difference with their money introduced me to the topic of Foundations. I completed additional training as a Foundation Consultant, accompanied many people from the initial idea to the establishment of the Foundation, and actively worked as a Board Member in some Foundations. However, I never lost my passion for art.”
Monika found inspiration in Leonardo da Vinci who was not only a unique artist, but also a brilliant scientist and businessman. His holistic perspective, which combines art, science, and business, inspired her own work. She was fortunate to meet many extraordinary people who broadened her horizons and opened up new perspectives. These encounters shaped her outlook and motivated her to follow her own creative path.
“The decision to study photography was strongly influenced by the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. My goal is to build an inspiring network of creatives, thinkers, and visionaries. I strive to constantly develop and grow, both as an artist and as a person.”
After completing her photography studies, Monika founded ‘emotional return GmbH’ in March 2021. The company combines her expertise from the world of finance with her passion for art. Innovative and eclectic, she was honored by the German Innovation Institute as an ‘Entrepreneur of the Future’ in May 2024.
“It takes courage to stay true to yourself and consistently implement your ideas. Hard work alone is not enough, you also need a bit of luck and have to be in the right place at the right time. Chance often plays a decisive role. In addition to a solid education, continuous further training is essential, as the world is changing rapidly. I have been very lucky to receive new impulses from inspiring people whenever I was on the verge of giving up.”
A complete people’s person, Monika’s many encounters with extraordinary people, the inspiring conversations, and the diverse perspectives, drive her on. The joy of discovery and the desire for adventure feed her passion. Every vernissage and every visit to an exhibition is a new adventure that leaves profound impressions and broadens her horizons. What motivates her most are the moments when she sees what her work can achieve; when people tell her what ideas her works have given them.
Extremely humble, she credits her success to her strengths of innovation, enthusiasm, perseverance, and her ability to recognize opportunities where others overlook them. In addition, she ensures the right balance between commitment and relaxation in order to achieve sustainable success. For instance, Sunday is her family day. They begin the day with a hearty breakfast and go on outings afterwards, which ends with a visit to a restaurant. She regularly goes running with her sports group or meets up with her girlfriend in Düsseldorf to eat ice cream or stroll through the fashion world.
A global path-breaker, Monika lists three crucial things for long-term success: “Financial resources, creative vision, and an unshakeable belief in your own abilities. My message is - stay true to yourself, keep your dreams alive, and find the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
